My sound, installation, and performance work has always been connected to my interests as a painter [ and visa versa ]. The sounds of objects are transformed through manipulation, but also juxtaposition and context. My artistic activities come from an intense interest in language. Most of my sound work of the 1990s borders on opera in the use of language as music. My interest in graphic sound scores pre-dates the incorporation of diagrams into my painting. This area of the site is largely under construction while I recollect and digitize sound material recorded in analog. I have posted quite a bit of material for "Natural Selection," including the complete audio CD and a video clip of Terri Sarris' wonderful performance of the "Electricity" section.
