This is a multi-media work that incorporates the projection of a popular TV detective episode on to a series of 10 foot high mini-blinds. In programmed intervals, a section of blinds opens to reveal a different theatrical tableau – each representing an attempt at resolution or solving a mystery. The piece is designed for a sound score and three performers. A beautiful blond [Sue Carman-Vian] tells stories and performs odd demonstrations during the commercial breaks. My friend, composer Frank Pahl, contributed a brass band piece that we re-orchestrated for each break.
I acknowledge my debt to a famous ONCE Group piece titled "Unmarked Interchange," and to Robert Ashley in general whose influence can be heard throughout my work.
